Facilities on the surface
The "head frame" covers the equipment on the ground surface.
In this building, you'll typically find a pulley or hoist motor that lifts ore loads through shafts and storage silos that hold ore and other materials until they're transported.
Reinforced concrete collars support these facilities beneath them.
The advantages of top hats over hollow sections are increased stiffness and simplicity of installation. Additionally, they use wire ropes rather than steel guide beams, which are more flexible and easier to replace.
Workers, heavy equipment, and loads of ore are typically moved through the largest compartment in a shaft mine.
A mine cage, which is similar to an elevator in a skyscraper, allows miners to descend and ascend the shaft.
The cages are equipped with multiple safety systems to ensure workers can be evacuated safely in the event of an emergency
